As home to the largest Tyson Fresh Meats plant, Dakota City welcomes industrial development. The City’s heavy industrial park, known as the Roth Industrial Park, consists of 600 acres of shovel-ready property. The Roth Industrial Park has access to rail, expedited permitting, and availability of tax increment financing.
Dakota Crossings is a light industrial park that was completed in 2015. Lots are still available for purchase and development. The subdivision does include covenants, which can be viewed here.
The City has seen an increase in new housing construction in the last five years. To date, there are limited lots available and few houses for sale within Corporate Limits. Future planning efforts will focus on developing an area south of City Limits for housing.
