The City has a franchise and retail lease agreement with the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD).

NPPD also maintains the City’s street lights. Currently, NPPD is in the process of converting all street lights to LED lights. To report a street light that is out, please contact City Hall at 402-987-3448.

Tree branches can be taken to the Dakota City tree dump, located at 600 S. 16th Street. The tree dump is open every Friday from 11:00AM-3:00PM and the first full weekend of every month. The tree dump is to only be used by residents that live inside city limits. Violators will be asked to leave and may be ticketed.
